Deep Creek Hot Springs · San Bernardino Mountains

Some places
are worth
the hike.

Deep Creek Hot Springs is not a spa you drive up to. You earn it on the trail — and the reward is a day of hiking, canyon scenery, hot water, and cold creek water.

Deep Creek water and rocks
The point of this site

I want you to see the place before you decide to hike there.

Deep Creek is the kind of Southern California destination that makes a photograph look almost unreal: desert country, a green canyon, granite, a creek, and natural hot water in the same landscape.

But knowing that a place is beautiful is not the same thing as knowing how the day actually works.

The route has a real descent, a real climb back out, changing footing, exposure to the elements, and enough logistics that the difference between being prepared and being unprepared matters.

The guided experience

What the listed adventure includes.

From Los Angeles The listed experience begins in Los Angeles, with pickup details supplied with the booking.
7–13 hours The advertised experience allows a full day for transportation, hiking, soaking, and the return.
Small group The listing currently states a maximum of six travelers.
Bradford Ridge The listed adventure uses the Bradford Ridge approach into Deep Creek Hot Springs.
The trail

The hot springs are the destination. The hike is part of it.

The current tour description describes a roughly two-mile descent into the canyon before reaching the springs.

That means the return is uphill. The route can be steep and slippery, and good traction matters. Trekking poles are worth considering.

Bring enough water for the whole day. The current listing specifically asks guests to bring at least one gallon per person.

Know before you go

Come prepared for a real hike.

This is not a casual walk from a parking lot to a developed swimming pool. The current tour information describes a strenuous outing and says travelers should have a high level of physical fitness.

That is exactly the kind of thing I would rather explain before the trip than after the trail gets steep.

Footing Expect loose and uneven ground. Good hiking shoes with dependable traction are important.
Water Bring plenty. The current listing calls for at least one gallon per person.
Elevation The route descends into the canyon and you have to climb back out afterward.
Heat Southern California canyon conditions can be very different from the weather you left in Los Angeles.
Time This is a full-day outing, not a quick stop.
Bring your food The listed experience does not provide meals, so plan your own food for the day.
The creek The experience includes time to relax at the hot springs and the option to swim in the creek.
Respect the canyon Pack out everything you bring and be respectful of other visitors and the natural environment.
Want me to lead it?

You bring the legs.
I'll lead the adventure.

I've spent enough time on Southern California trails to know that the good stuff is rarely just the destination. It's knowing the route, understanding the terrain, preparing for the day, and being able to enjoy the scenery instead of wondering whether you're still on the right trail.

Let me take you from Los Angeles to Deep Creek Hot Springs for a day built around the hike, the canyon, and the springs.
